The board of directors of The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham have established gift acceptance policies and procedures to govern the acceptance of gifts by the foundation and to provide guidance to prospective donors and their advisors when making gifts to the foundation.

monitoring and measuring outcome?
|
The foundation’s gift acceptance policy covers: purpose of policies and guidelines; use of legal counsel; confidentiality policy; conflict of interest; restrictions on gifts; Gift Acceptance Committee; types of gifts including criteria governing form of gift; miscellaneous provisions securing re: securing appraisals, valuation of gifts for development purposes; responsibility for IRS filings; acknowledgement of gifts; and changes to policies. The appendices include: standards of practice for the gift planner, donor/family advised fund policies, and a gift acceptance checklist. They also include useful forms in relation to accepting gifts of property including: environmental review forms designed for use with current and/or prior owners or managers of the property; property inspection checklist for current environmental conditions; an environmental site inspection checklist, evaluation of known environmental factors form.
