How does this practice
meet the applicable standard?
The Community Foundation of Greater Lorain County has established grant guidelines and procedures for its various types of component funds and makes this fact known through a number of avenues for communications with the general public and targeted constituencies.
What method is used for
monitoring and measuring outcome?
The foundation makes its grantmaking programs, grant application procedures and grants cycles known in a variety of ways. Written grant guidelines are available from the foundation itself and on its website on the Applying for a Grant webpage. The Grant Guidelines outline the various types of funds and the grant deadlines for each fund. In addition the foundation sends out postcards to advertise its grants cycles to potential grantees. The Grant Guidelines are updated yearly and contain a general description of the grants program, the procedures for applying, an Application Checklist, a Description of Organization form, a Fiscal Sponsor’s Information form, a Proposal Summary form, a Project Budget form, and a Project Overview form. The foundation has a number of targeted grantmaking programs, including: an African American Community Fund, an Hispanic Fund, a Youth Fund, scholarships, Service Learning grants for K-12 teachers, and a Fund for Huron County. The foundation undertakes targeted marketing efforts to reach these particular constituencies by contacting organizations that serve these communities.
What were the results? The grantmaking program and procedures of the community foundation are widely known, applications come from a broad range of nonprofit organizations, and the community foundation is able to serve all levels of its community.
