The Standard

A community foundation actively involves donors in identifying and responding to community issues and opportunities.

Underlying Rationale

Engaging donors in identifying and responding to community issues and opportunities is one of the most valuable services a community foundation is able to provide to its community. The more donors are engaged, the more effective and satisfying their grantmaking.

Potential Outcomes

  1. Donors feel a higher level of satisfaction from their grantmaking.
  2. Increase donors’ connection to the community.
  3. The foundation is positioned as “the philanthropic resource” in the community.
  4. Increased current and deferred giving.
  5. Obtain referrals to new donors.
