A community foundation's governing body ensures that the community foundation meets all laws and legal requirements.

Underlying Rationale

Protects the community foundation and the community’s interest in it from the occurrence of improper conduct and protects its tax exempt status and assets. Among the duties imposed under state law, the duty of obedience holds directors responsible for ensuring that the community foundation is in compliance with applicable law.
